Presenter: Tony Fujs

This workshop introduces participants to modern text analysis techniques and conceptual framework. Participants will learn about theory and applications of text analysis that are particularly relevant to evaluators, such as analysis of case notes, social media streams, or open-ended survey questions. The concepts and methods presented in this workshop will be illustrated by concrete examples and step-by-step demonstrations.

  • Understand the core concepts and terminology used in text analysis
  • Become familiar with the tools and techniques available to manage unstructured text and implement text analysis techniques

Prerequisites: None. This talk is appropriate for all audience levels.

About the Presenter: Tony Fujs is a Data Scientist at the World Bank, where he uses open source software and statistical learning techniques to extract information from structured and unstructured data, streamline data management, and improve data visualization. Prior to joining the World Bank, Tony was the Director of Learning and Evaluation at the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC). Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance from the University of Nantes and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
